China Cambodia agricultural cooperation ushers in the uninterrupted farming season and harvest season

Not long ago, the special affairs office of the Chinese side quickly completed the quarantine procedures for the export of agricultural and aquatic products such as Cambodian longan and Pasha fish to China through video. More Cambodian high-quality agricultural products will be put on the table of Chinese families this year. China Cambodia agricultural cooperation is ushering in an uninterrupted farming season and harvest season.

Although COVID-19 runs through 2021, good news continues to emerge from the Sino Cambodian agricultural cooperation field. Last year, Cambodia mango was successfully exported to China after completing the video evaluation. Mango has also become the second fresh fruit in Cambodia that can be directly exported to China after bananas.

As for the successful defeat of mango to China, some commentators said that it seems to be just a mango trade, but it reflects the brotherly friendship between China and Cambodia. As a staunch friend of Cambodia sharing a common destiny, China will continue to work with Cambodia to continuously deepen practical cooperation in various fields, including agricultural products, so as to bring more tangible benefits to the two peoples.

Less than a month later, Cambodian edible aquatic animal export enterprises completed the filing with the General Administration of Customs of China. Aquatic animals such as Cambodian Squilla, Squilla, Monopterus, snakehead and Echinacea can be exported to the Chinese market.

In another area, the Chinese market has become increasingly important for Cambodia’s rice exports. Earlier, China and Cambodia signed a memorandum of understanding on China’s purchase of 400000 tons of Cambodian rice, which will be implemented for 17 months from December 2021.

It is reported that in 2021, Cambodia exported 617000 tons of rice, a year-on-year decrease of 10.68%, but China exported 306000 tons to China, a year-on-year increase of 7%. China is still the largest exporter of Cambodian rice.

This year, with the formal implementation of the China Cambodia free trade agreement and the regional comprehensive economic partnership agreement, China Cambodia agricultural cooperation will usher in new opportunities. According to the latest news, Cambodia’s pepper export to China has made progress. Cambodia is actively filling in the questionnaire on the access of pepper to China and said it will complete the filling in in February 2022.

Ding Yang, an expert from the tissue culture seedling center of Royal Agricultural University of Cambodia, pointed out that the formal implementation of the above agreement will facilitate the export of Cambodian agricultural products. It is expected that under the favorable policies, Cambodian agriculture will develop rapidly and become an important production base of global tropical crops. There should be more space for China Cambodia cooperation in tropical agricultural products.

Cambodian media commented that Cambodian rice, bananas, mangoes, coconut, cashew nuts and other high-quality agricultural products will be exported to more countries in the world, and effectively promote Cambodian enterprises to improve efficiency and sustainable development. There is no doubt that the prospect of China Cambodia agricultural cooperation will be broader in the future, and the position of the Chinese market will be more important.
