EU agricultural trade hits another record high in January-September 2022

On December 21, the European Commission released its latest monthly agricultural trade report. The report shows that from January to September 2022, EU agricultural trade reached 295.148 billion euros, an increase of 23.3% year-on-year. Among them, exports of 169.055 billion euros, an increase of 16%; imports of 126.093 billion euros, an increase of 34%. The trade surplus was EUR 42.962 billion, down 16.1% year-on-year.

From January to September 2022, EU exports to China were 11,114 million euros, down 16.5% year-on-year. The decline was mainly due to lower exports of coarse grains, pork and fresh dairy products. Wheat exports doubled to 751 million tons. During the same period, the EU imported 7.182 billion euros from China, up 68% year-on-year. The trade surplus was 3.932 billion euros, down 56.6 percent year-on-year.
