Global blueberry production is expected to reach 2 million tons

According to the report released by blueberry consulting, the blueberry industry website, the global blueberry production is expected to reach 2 million tons soon.

Because it is widely believed that blueberries are beneficial to health, blueberries are not only used in the field of food, but also in the fields of cosmetics and drugs. Data show that global blueberry production and trade have increased significantly in the past 10 years, from 439000 tons in 2010 to more than 1 million tons in 2021.

At present, the global blueberry industry is growing rapidly, and China and the United States have become one of the world’s major producers. Over the past five years, Peru’s blueberry production has increased from 50 tons to 200000 tons, becoming the world’s leading blueberry exporter.

In 2021, the global blueberry planting area was 126146.6 hectares, of which the blueberry planting area in North America ranked second, with a planting area of 52573 hectares, accounting for 41.68% of the total global planting area. Followed by Europe (28533 hectares) and South America (13440 hectares), the planting area of blueberries in Asia is 64553 hectares.
