Online meeting between the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations

On January 10, Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Agriculture website reported that Minister of Agriculture Voitov held an online meeting with the UN FAO Regional Coordinator for Central Asia and the FAO representative in Uzbekistan to discuss the current progress of cooperation and future work plans.

Voytov noted that administrative reform and modernization of agriculture in Uzbekistan are progressing steadily, and cooperation with EU, Turkey, Japan and other countries is being carried out in an orderly manner. FAO is involved in the implementation of a total of 18 national and 15 local projects in Ukraine, which have greatly contributed to the development of agriculture in the country. The two sides agreed to include agricultural subsidies, leasing, lending and other financial instruments as important directions of cooperation, and jointly mobilize grant resources and technical assistance from the United Nations Global Environment Facility, the Green Climate Fund and the Climate Change Adaptation Fund. The sides exchanged views on the regular meeting of ministers of agriculture of Central Asian countries to be held in Tashkent in February this year and decided to form a working group to coordinate the preparation of the SCO International Conference on Food Security.
