Russia could supply 44.3 million tons of wheat for export in the agricultural year 2022-2023

According to the materials of the Russian SovEcon Analytical Center, Russia has exported 22.7 million tons of wheat in the first half of the agricultural year 2022-2023 (July 1, 2022 – June 30, 2023) and can supply 44.3 million tons of wheat for the whole agricultural year.

Statistics show that “in the first half of the agricultural year 2022-2023, Russia exported 22.7 million tons of wheat, which is 200,000 tons more than the previous year. the growth rate of exports in the last months of 2022 was higher than the overall average value, thus allowing exporters to compensate for the export commiseration at the beginning of the agricultural year.”

Several experts expect Russia to export 44.3 million tons of wheat for the year, compared to 33.4 million tons in the previous agricultural year. They believe that against the backdrop of relatively high export prices, a weak ruble and record reserves in Russia, the Russian exporters’ market will remain positive until the end of the current agricultural year.

In mid-January, the Russian Ministry of Agriculture raised the valuation of the country’s grain exports for the 2022-2023 agricultural year from 50 million tons to 55-60 million tons. The department expects wheat export potential of 39.5 million tons for the current year and has not revised this valuation for the time being.
