Russia’s grain production grows 24.2% net weight to 150.7 million tons in 2022

Russia’s grain production in 2022 will increase by 24.2% compared to the same period last year, with the net weight of processed grain reaching 150.7 million tons, a new high for this output, according to the Russian State Statistics Service.

According to statistics, the net weight of processed grain harvested by various agricultural production sectors (agricultural organizations, farms, individuals) in 2022 amounted to 150.7 million tons,” the news release said. This year’s processed grain production increased by 24.2% compared to last year.”

Grain production in 2017 was the previous record high, with 135.539 million tons harvested, including 86.003 million tons of wheat. Russia’s total grain production in 2021 will be 121,397 trillion tons, including 76,057 million tons of wheat.

In addition, the Russian State Statistics Service said that in 2022 according to statistics, the weight of sunflower seeds harvested by various agricultural production sectors after processing is 153 billion tons, which is 2% less than last year. Red cabbage production increased by 1.2% to 41.7 million tons. Potato production increased by 3% to 18.6 million tons, and vegetables decreased by 3.1% to 13 million tons.

Rosstat also highlighted that as of December 1, the area of fall and winter sowing of crops by agricultural production organizations was 10.8 million hectares, which is 3.8% less than last year. The area under cultivation was 18.2 million hectares, compared to 19.7 million hectares in the same period last year.
