USDA plans to provide up to $250 million in financial assistance to rice farmers

The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently announced a plan to provide up to $250 million in financial assistance to rice farmers. The new program will provide a one-time payment to rice farmers based on acreage planted and unplanted in 2022. on Dec. 29, 2022, President Biden signed H.R. 2617, the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023, which provides authority and funding to the USDA. USDA will make payments to rice growers based on data already on file, including acreage planted and acreage not planted.
