With market diversification and product diversification, exports of rice, aquatic products, coffee, etc. have set new records. That is, shrimp exports reached a record $4.3 billion, cha fish reached $2.4 billion, reaching a record growth rate of nearly 80 percent, and tuna reached $1 billion for the first time.

In 2022, the economic and social environment is more stable, allowing aquatic companies to resume production and exports. Strong recovery in demand after 2 years of restrictions by the epidemic in the EU, the US, etc.

Vice President of Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences Tao Shy Anh commented that agriculture and other economic sectors have made unremitting efforts to recover after the COVID-19 epidemic. Agriculture has made remarkable achievements worldwide, thanks to the solid foundation accumulated and developed through years of structural adjustment.

In the past year, many agricultural products have entered the markets of several countries, for example, durian, sweet potatoes and bird’s nest have entered the Chinese market; pomelo has been exported to the United States; longan has been exported to Japan; lemons and pomelo have entered New Zealand, etc.

Reflecting on the results of market opening in 2022, Mr. Hoang Trung, Director of the Plant Protection Bureau, emphasized that agriculture will continue to strive to expand more markets in 2023.

Mr. Tao Shiying said, “In the future, we will also continue to diversify our markets, including China; organize production to ensure the market requirements for food safety, and complete all post-harvest stages, including packaging and bagging. I believe there are still huge growth opportunities in agriculture and that agricultural exports will achieve positive growth in 2023″.
