- Start the system: Fill the reservoir tank with the nutrient solution. Turn on the water pump and ensure the solution flows smoothly through the channels, creating a thin film of nutrient solution over the roots of the plants. Check that all the plants receive an equal amount of solution.
- Set up a timer: Use a timer to control the pump’s operation, allowing the plants to receive a periodic flow of nutrient solution. The frequency and duration of the nutrient solution flow will depend on the specific requirements of your plants.
- Monitor and maintain the system: Regularly check the pH level and nutrient concentration of the solution to ensure it remains within the appropriate range. Keep an eye on the plant health, looking out for signs of nutrient deficiencies or other issues. Adjust the nutrient solution as necessary and perform routine maintenance, such as cleaning the channels and replacing the growing medium when needed.
