In September, China became the number one destination for French wheat and barley

Foreign media news on October 18: in September 2021, that is, the third month of 2021 / 22 (July to June), China became the number one buyer of French wheat and barley, reflecting the strengthening of Sino French trade relations.

In September, France exported 695400 tons of soft wheat to regions outside the EU, of which China was the number one destination, with an export volume of 185200 tons, followed by Algeria, with an export volume of 184000 tons.

Based on shipping data, French soft wheat exports to China are expected to further increase in October.

Algeria was the number one buyer of French Wheat in August, partly due to the delay in shipment in July. At that time, the rainy weather in France led to the slow harvest of wheat and the delay in shipment.

Besides wheat, China is also the number one buyer of French barley. In September, the export volume of barley from France was 372600 tons, far lower than the 909900 tons in August. In September, France exported 225500 tons of feed barley and 105300 tons of beer barley to China. In addition, it also exported 5800 tons of feed barley to Morocco and 36000 tons of beer barley to the other three regions.

France agrimer, the crop office under the French Ministry of agriculture, said that in 2021 / 22, France’s export of soft wheat to regions outside the EU is expected to be 9.6 million tons, an increase of 2 million tons year-on-year.

In September, France exported 131100 tons of soft wheat and 222400 tons of grain to EU Member States. Most of the grain exported by France to EU Member States is transported by non ocean routes.

In September, the total grain export of French ports was 1.31 million tons, the highest level in the same period since 2015 / 16. These grains include barley, beer barley, corn, malt and durum.
