January-September 2022 Tajikistan’s wheat imports from Kazakhstan decrease in volume and increase in price

Tajikistan’s Asian Express news agency reported in Dushanbe on December 2 that in January-September 2022, Tajikistan imported 596,100 tons of wheat from Kazakhstan, a decrease of 700,900 tons or about 15%; wheat imports amounted to $194.7 million, an increase of $30.1 million or 18.3%; the average price of wheat imports compared to the same period last year The average price of wheat imports increased by 39% compared to the same period last year, reaching $330 per ton.

According to the statistics, despite the decline in the volume of Kazakhstan’s grain exports to the tower, from January to September this year, the total bilateral trade between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan amounted to $979 million, up 22% year-on-year; the tower’s exports to Kazakhstan increased by 55.5% year-on-year, and imports from Kazakhstan increased by 591 million U.S. dollars, or 7% year-on-year.

From the viewpoint of the structure of import and export products, the main products exported to Kazakhstan are $122 million of copper ores and concentrates, $15 million of dried fruits and nuts, $6 million of fresh grapes and raisins; the main products imported from Kazakhstan are wheat, margarine and steel products, etc.
