South Korea funds $1.2 million to Sri Lanka through FAO for shrimp farming development

SeafoodMedia, Nov. 11 — South Korea has invested US$1.2 million through the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to enhance the development of shrimp farming in Sri Lanka as part of a global FAO assistance project in the country, which totals US$3.9 million.

The three-year project aims to ensure effective biosecurity of the local shrimp farming industry through digital technology, through which FAO will build and strengthen national capacity in all aspects of health management, food safety, biosafety systems analysis, and establish a robust disease early warning and surveillance system to support the sustainable development of the shrimp farming sector.
