Tanzania will establish organic cotton development policy system

Tanzania’s citizen reported on January 24 that on January 23, Tanzania held a national organic cotton development conference to discuss the establishment of an organic cotton development policy system and management system to promote the increase in production and efficiency of Tanzania’s organic cotton industry. Tanzania’s cotton Committee and organic cotton production enterprises attended the conference. According to the data released in the international organic cotton report 2021, Tanzania produced 16000 tons of organic cotton in 2019 / 2020 fiscal year, accounting for 6.4% of the total output of organic cotton in the world, ranking fifth among the 21 organic cotton producing countries in the world. India is the largest producer of organic cotton, accounting for 50%. The output of organic cotton in China, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey ranked second to fourth respectively; In terms of organic cotton planting area, Tanzania ranks fourth in the world, with 3416 hectares. India is the largest organic cotton planting country in the world, with an area of 23000 hectares. Turkey, Tajikistan and China rank second, third and fifth respectively.
