The food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations released the future outlook report on food security

On March 7, 2022, the food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) released a report on the future prospects of future food security. The main contents are as follows: food safety is the cornerstone of the agricultural food system. All food safety actors need to keep up with the current pace of change and be prepared to deal with potential threats, interferences and challenges. The foresight of food safety helps to actively identify the driving factors and related trends inside and outside the agricultural food system, which have an impact on food safety, consumer health, national economy and international trade. Early identification and assessment of drivers and trends contribute to strategic planning and preparation to take advantage of emerging opportunities and meet food safety challenges. In this publication, the FAO food safety outlook programme outlines the main global drivers and trends, describing their impact on food safety and on agricultural food systems through extrapolation. Various drivers and trends reported include climate change, changes in consumer behavior and preferences, new food sources and production systems, technological progress, microbial communities, circular economy, food fraud, etc.
