The rice yield and sown area in Egypt will remain stable in 2022/23

According to the report released by the overseas agriculture bureau of the U.S. Department of agriculture, the output and harvest area of finished rice in Egypt in 2022 / 23 (October to September of the next year) will remain stable compared with 2021 / 22, reaching 2.9 million tons and 500000 hectares respectively.

The report also predicts that Egypt’s rice imports in 2022 / 23 will be 600000 tons, unchanged from the previous year. The ending inventory of Egyptian rice in 2022 / 23 is expected to be 540000 tons, down from 845000 tons in the previous year, mainly due to the decline of beginning inventory in 2022 / 23.
