The Secretary-General of the United Nations calls on the world to face food shortages together

On the 26th, UN Secretary-General Guterres called on the international community to transform the food system to accelerate sustainable development.

Guterres stated in a video speech to the preparatory meeting of the United Nations Food System Summit in Rome that opened that day, as many as 811 million people will face hunger in 2020, an increase of 161 million people from 2019. In addition, the huge damage caused by the COVID-19 has prevented 3 billion people from getting a healthy diet.

The United Nations Food System Summit is scheduled to be held in September. The preparatory meeting for the United Nations Food System Summit will be held in a mixed on-site and online format, bringing together representatives from more than 100 countries.
