Turkmenistan’s business network reported on September 19 that since the beginning of 2022, the country has exported 75,000 tons of tomatoes grown in greenhouses to Russia and other countries, which is more than two times more than the same period last year. Another 20-25 thousand tons of tomatoes are expected to be exported between September and October.
The Agricultural Department of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan said that this year’s tomato harvest has been a great success and has far exceeded the demand on the domestic market, and Turkmen exporters have successfully sold a large number of tomatoes to Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan.
In 2022, Turkmenistan’s vegetable exports will be worth about $100 million.
