Ukraine to harvest 61 million tons of grains and oilseeds in 2022

Ukraine’s agricultural production is sufficient to guarantee food security and exports despite the weather and unfavorable factors such as the war this year, said Igor Vyshtak, head of the agricultural development department of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, recently.

This year’s cereal production will reach 51 million tons and rapeseed production will reach 16 million tons, Vishtak said. Farmers have so far harvested 9 million hectares of cereals (including beans), equivalent to 81 percent of the planned sown area; the average yield is 4.34 tons per hectare, and production reached 39.1 million tons.

He added that this year’s winter crop planting progress has reached 94%, with 4.4 million hectares of cereals and nearly 1 million hectares of winter rapeseed planted.
